Ivanti ME recently played a part in the creation of the new Egyptian Government Data Cloud Computing Center – also known as P1. Husni Hammoud, Managing Director for Ivanti in Emerging Markets, and Eslam Ahmed A. Fattah, Ivanti Country Manager, Egypt, were invited to the inauguration of the facility.

The opening event was honored by the presence of Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi. In his address to the invited attendees, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the significance of this center, the first of its kind in Egypt and North Africa and focused on the advent of big data and artificial intelligence.

During his speech President El-Sisi highlighted the strategic location of Egypt – around 90 per cent of the world’s submarine cables pass through the country, making it a major hub for data transmission and communications.

“It’s a privilege for Ivanti to contribute to this pivotal moment for Egypt. Our strong partnerships with key government organizations in the region underscore our commitment to supporting national digital strategies” said Husni Hammoud, Managing Director for Ivanti in Emerging Markets.

“Managing, maintaining, and securing data and applications in digital transformation projects is paramount to safeguarding these investments, and our leading platforms play a vital role in enabling effective management, detection, prediction, and prevention for critical infrastructure” added Mr Hammoud.

The data center is located on the Ain Sokhna highway and covers more than 23,500 sqm of which 10,000 sqm houses current infrastructure, with the rest reserved for future expansion. The facility includes administration, operation, and insurance facilities, space for cloud computing equipment, a hall for technical solutions and AI applications, and an interchange control center for the National Emergency Network.

The center’s mission includes providing essential applications, facilitating payments, and employing AI and big data analysis for decision-making at all levels, thereby attracting more investment opportunities to the Egyptian market.
