Mideast Data Systems L.L.C campaign to grow a greener UAE and a more sustainable future
The Mangrove tree planting campaign is a crucial part of the country's goal of a greener UAE
As part of MDS’ Road to Sustainability Campaign, Mideast Data Systems L.L.C. recently reached for their shovels and took part in a major environmental campaign event – For Our Emirates We Plant. The activity, which took place on April 22 at the Mangrove Beach in Umm Al Quwain, was initiated by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and attracted companies and various entities from across the UAE.
The MDS team planted an amazing 250 Avicennia marina mangrove trees, which as they grow, will help to offset 36.25 MTCO2e annually. Avicennia marina, commonly known as the grey mangrove, is a woody shrub or small tree that thrives in salt-laden soils in coastal regions. It plays a crucial role in coastal ecosystems by stabilizing shorelines and providing habitat for various marine species. (Wikipedia)
Present on the day for MDS were Khaled H. Nehme, MDS Site & Power Projects Director along with team members from MDS Site & Power Solutions and MDS Computers.
“Seeing people from different companies and sectors working together to make a difference in our own little way and having a common goal is a testament to how important environmental conservation is” said Khaled H. Nehme, MDS Site & Power Projects Director. “At Mideast Data Systems, we will continue our efforts and vision for a more sustainable future.”
The campaign is a crucial part of the country’s goal of a greener UAE. Mideast Data Systems L.L.C participation in the campaign shows the level of the organization’s commitment and understanding of the importance of reducing and offsetting carbon emissions in the environment, a key part of the UAE’s vision of Carbon NET-ZERO by 2050.
