Midis Local Office Women’s Network: inspiring and supporting each other
Helping to make the Local Office 'an outstanding working place'
Midis Local Office Women’s Network has come together with the idea of creating ‘a specific time dedicated to inspiring and supporting each other, whilst sharing skillsets and building stronger connections.’
Since the move into new offices in November, the Midis Local Office in Dubai Internet City has gone from strength to strength. Old and new faces fill the chairs and common areas with a sense of excitement for the future and an ability to collaborate again, in person.
“It was this gentle buzz which started conversations across departments in the kitchen, the heart of any thriving office, and made us appreciate the wealth of different skills and experience we have amongst our own colleagues within the office,” said Emily Purches, one of the organizers of the group.
Following the success of a focused women’s talk during Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, it became apparent that by meeting and connecting on a regular basis, women could potentially provide support for one another and in turn, contribute to making the Local Office an ‘outstanding working place’.
After discussion and planning to get things started, on Thursday November 11, the women of Midis Local Office met to discuss this new initiative and see how to contribute to building an environment in which all can thrive. A total of 24 people attended and it was a great success, where laughter was shared, and valuable feedback was given.
The word from those present was positive: “It was great meeting everyone and getting to know one another on a professional and more personal basis,” said one attendee. “Now I know everyone’s name!”
“We will be meeting once a month to share ideas and see how we can help each other,” said another. “Watch this space!”
Now the plan is to spread the message about the women’s network much further afield. This initiative has just started in the Dubai office; the aim is to reach out to all the women of the LO teams and to replicate this drive across all regions from Europe to Africa.
